Insurance Coverage
We accept select commercial insurance plans, including:
• Aetna
• UnitedHealthcare
• UMR
• Oscar
• Oxford
• Health Plans Inc.
Please check with your insurance company regarding your specific plan’s policies. We verify benefits and any expected financial responsibility before your first visit to make the process smooth.
Understanding Insurance & Privacy
When using insurance, a mental health diagnosis is required and becomes part of your medical record. Insurance providers may request documentation to confirm medical necessity if a claim is reviewed.
For clients who prefer not to receive a diagnosis or who value additional privacy and flexibility, private pay may be a preferred option.
FSA / HSA & Payment Options
We accept Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA), allowing you to use pre-tax dollars for therapy. Payment by major credit card, debit card, or FSA/HSA card is accepted.
Out-of-Network Claims & Superbills
We provide superbills at no cost. A superbill is a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement if your plan includes out-of-network benefits.
Many clients qualify for partial reimbursement.
If you have PPO insurance, we are happy to provide documentation to support your reimbursement request.
We also partner with Mentaya to help submit out-of-network insurance claims. Eligible sessions are reimbursed by check in the mail. You may use the Mentaya widget below to check your coverage in seconds. Approximately 70–90% of clients qualify for some level of reimbursement.

Frequently Asked Questions about Fees & Insurance
Q: How much does therapy cost at Aspire Counseling Group?
A: At Aspire Counseling Group in Arcadia, CA, individual therapy is $220 per 55-minute session. Couples and family therapy are $270 per 55-minute session.
Some clients use insurance, while others choose private pay depending on their goals, privacy preferences, or insurance benefits.
Q: What insurance plans does Aspire Counseling Group accept?
A: Aspire Counseling Group accepts select insurance plans, including Aetna, Optum, UnitedHealthcare, Oxford, Oscar, Health Plans Inc., Lyra, and Spring Health.
Insurance coverage can vary by therapist, plan, and service type, so our care coordinator can help verify your benefits before your first appointment.
Q: Can I use insurance for couples therapy?
A: Couples therapy is private pay only at Aspire Counseling Group.
Insurance requires one person to be the identified patient and requires treatment to be based on medical necessity for that individual. Couples therapy focuses on the relationship as a whole, including communication, trust, conflict patterns, emotional connection, and relational healing.
Q: Do you offer superbills for out-of-network benefits?
A: Yes. If you are paying privately, we can provide superbills that you may submit to your insurance plan for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
We also work with Mentaya, which can help some clients check out-of-network benefits and submit claims more easily.
Q: Can I use an HSA or FSA card for therapy?
A: Yes. Many clients use HSA or FSA cards to pay for therapy, depending on their plan rules.
You may want to check with your HSA or FSA provider if you have questions about eligible expenses.
Q: Why do some clients choose private pay therapy?
A: Some clients choose private pay therapy because it allows for more privacy, flexibility, and control over treatment.
Private pay therapy does not require a mental health diagnosis to be submitted to insurance, and it allows therapy goals to be based on your needs rather than insurance medical necessity rules.
Q: Do you offer sliding scale or reduced-fee therapy?
A: Reduced-fee options may be available depending on therapist availability and current openings.
If cost is a concern, please contact us and our care coordinator can let you know what options may be available.
Q: How do I find out what my insurance will cover?
A: You can call or text Aspire Counseling Group at (626) 639-8844, and our care coordinator can help gather your insurance information and check your benefits.
You can also contact your insurance plan directly and ask about outpatient mental health benefits, copays, deductibles, and whether prior authorization is required.
