How We Help

Evidence-Based, Individualized Therapy in Arcadia, CA

At Aspire Counseling Group, we believe effective therapy should be evidence-based, trauma-informed, collaborative, and tailored to the person in front of us.

Our therapists do not rely on a one-size-fits-all approach. We look at the whole picture, including your concerns, relationships, history, culture, strengths, responsibilities, environment, and goals, and use clinically grounded approaches that fit your needs.

We provide in-person therapy in Arcadia, CA and secure online therapy throughout California.

Appointments are available as early as this week.

Therapy available in English, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, Armenian, and ASL.

Our Approach to Therapy

Therapist-owned. Clinically led. Thoughtfully matched.

Our therapists bring different specialties, perspectives, personalities, and treatment approaches while working within shared standards of care and ongoing clinical consultation.

Our care coordinator and clinical director work together to understand what you are looking for and help match you with a therapist based on your concerns, goals, personality, preferred style and approach, language, schedule, and insurance or payment needs.

Treatment is personalized to your goals and can evolve as your needs change.

Evidence-Based and Trauma-Informed Care

Our therapists use evidence-based approaches because treatment should be grounded in methods that have been studied and shown to help with specific concerns.

At the same time, effective therapy is not only about choosing a technique. A trauma-informed approach means paying attention to safety, trust, pacing, relationships, past experiences, culture, and the ways stress or trauma may affect thoughts, emotions, physical responses, and relationships.

This helps us avoid a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, we consider both the research behind a treatment and the individual person receiving it.

Depending on your needs, therapy may include approaches such as CBT, DBT-informed therapy, EMDR, Attachment-Based Therapy, and Family Systems Therapy.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT helps clients understand how thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and physical reactions influence one another.

It can be helpful for anxiety, depression, stress, ADHD, overthinking, self-criticism, and other concerns where patterns of thinking and behavior may be contributing to distress.

CBT often includes practical strategies that clients can use outside of therapy to strengthen coping, problem-solving, and emotional awareness.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

DBT-informed therapy may help clients strengthen emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and communication skills.

These skills can be especially helpful when emotions feel intense, relationships become difficult, or it is hard to respond effectively during stressful situations.

At Aspire, DBT skills may be integrated into individualized therapy based on each client’s needs and treatment goals.

EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, or EMDR, is an evidence-based therapy commonly used to help clients process distressing memories and experiences.

EMDR may be helpful for trauma, PTSD, anxiety, emotional triggers, painful memories, grief, and other experiences that continue to feel emotionally intense.

Our therapists use EMDR when clinically appropriate and tailor the process to each client’s history, readiness, and treatment goals.

Attachment-Based Therapy

Attachment-based therapy explores how early and current relationships can influence trust, emotional safety, communication, boundaries, and the ways we connect with others.

This approach may be helpful for relationship concerns, anxiety, trauma, difficulty trusting others, fear of abandonment, emotional distance, and recurring interpersonal patterns.

Attachment-informed work can be used with individuals, couples, and families depending on the concern.

Family Systems Therapy

Family systems therapy looks at concerns within the broader context of relationships, family patterns, roles, expectations, communication, and life circumstances.

Rather than viewing one person as the problem, this approach considers how different parts of the family system influence one another.

Family systems concepts may be used in individual, couples, or family therapy when relationships and family dynamics are an important part of the concern.

More Than One Approach

Many clients do not fit neatly into a single therapy model.

Depending on your needs, your therapist may integrate more than one approach. For example, therapy may combine CBT strategies for anxiety, DBT-informed skills for emotional regulation, attachment-based work for relationship patterns, family systems concepts for family dynamics, or EMDR for difficult past experiences.

The goal is not to use a particular technique simply because it has a name. The goal is to understand what is happening, choose approaches that make sense for you, and adjust treatment as needed.

Clinical Leadership Behind Our Approach

Clinical Director Ani Martikyan, LMFT brings nearly two decades of experience working with children, teens, adults, couples, and families.

She helps guide Aspire’s clinical approach through therapist consultation, case conceptualization, therapist development, shared standards of care, and thoughtful matching.

This helps our team look beyond the immediate symptom and consider the broader picture, including relationships, developmental needs, life experiences, culture, strengths, stressors, and the circumstances surrounding each client.

How We Decide What Approach May Help

You do not need to choose a therapy modality before contacting us.

Your therapist will learn about what you are experiencing, what has or has not helped in the past, your goals, preferences, strengths, relationships, and current circumstances.

From there, treatment may include one primary approach or a combination of approaches.

We also welcome your feedback throughout therapy. If something is not working, the approach can be adjusted.

Find the Right Therapist for You

The relationship with your therapist matters just as much as the treatment approach.

Our team can help match you with a therapist based on:

  • your concerns and goals
  • the kind of support and communication style you prefer
  • age group and clinical needs
  • language
  • in-person or online preference
  • scheduling needs
  • insurance or payment needs
  • therapist specialties and clinical strengths

If you begin therapy and feel the match is not right, let us know. We can reassess what you are looking for and help you transition to another therapist within Aspire without repeating the entire intake process.
